Shuniah Policing Services

In December of 1998 Council passed By-law No. 1963-98, under Section 10 of the Police Services Act, to enter into an agreement between the Township of Shuniah and the Ministry of the Solicitor General for the provision of police services for the Municipality to be supplied by the Ontario Provincial Police. The current contract is in effect until December 31, 2008.

In December of 1998 Council further passed By-law 1964-98, as required under Section 10(2) of the Police Services Act, to establish the Shuniah Police Services Board.

Section 10 (6) of the Police Services Act, states that the OPP detachment assigned to the municipality shall provide police services, including by-law enforcement and any other duties at are specified within the agreement.
